Coal India Limited (CIL) under the Ministry of Coal and National Scheduled Tribe Finance and Development Corporation (NSTFDC) under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at empowering tribal students enrolled in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS).
The project titled “Empowering Tribal Students in Eklavya Model Residential Schools through Digital Access, Career Mentorship, Menstrual Hygiene, and Teacher Capacity Building” aims to harness the power of education, technology, and holistic development to uplift tribal youth in India.

During the FY 2024-25 the Company registered Profit Before Tax (PBT) of ₹2723.07 crore as against ₹2858.95 crore in the previous FY and PAT of Rs. 2076.67 Crore. The Company has declared a dividend of ₹ 433.80 crore for the FY 2024-25 at its Annual General Meeting.

The contract for construction of eleven (11) Ammunition Cum Torpedo Cum Missile Barge was concluded with an MSME Shipyard, M/s Suryadipta Projects Pvt Ltd, Thane on 05 Mar 21. These Barges have been indigenously designed and built by the Shipyard in collaboration with an Indian Ship Design firm and Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) respectively.
Model testing was undertaken at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam for seaworthiness. The Shipyard has successfully delivered ten of eleven Barges till date and are being effectively utilised by Indian Navy for its operational evolutions.

Global rating agency Fitch has raised India’s fiscal 2025-26 (FY26) GDP (gross domestic product) forecast to 6.9 per cent from 6.5 per cent. Domestic demand, Fitch said, will be the key driver of growth, as strong real income dynamics support consumer spending and looser financial conditions should feed through to investment.
At the global level, Fitch still expects world GDP to slow significantly this year. Global growth is now forecast to be 2.4 per cent in 2025, up 0.2 percentage points (pp) since June but a sizable slowdown from 2.9 per cent last year and below trend.
Among regions, Fitch has revised up China’s GDP to 4.7 per cent from 4.2 per cent, the eurozone’s to 1.1 per cent from 0.8 per cent and the US to 1.6 per cent from 1.5 per cent. World growth for 2026 is edged up by 0.1pp to 2.3 per cent.

National Democratic Alliance (NDA) nominee CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as Vice President of India, defeating INDIA bloc candidate Justice B Sudershan Reddy in the election held.
Radhakrishnan secured 452 first preference votes, while Justice Reddy received 300. Fifteen votes were declared invalid.

An Indian Armed Forces contingent comprising 65 personnel departed today for the Mulino Training Ground, Nizhniy, Russia, to participate in the multilateral joint military exercise ZAPAD 2025, scheduled to be conducted from 10 to 16 September 2025.
The contingent comprises 57 Indian Army personnel along with 07 personnel from the Indian Air Force and 01 from the Indian Navy. The Indian Army contingent is being led by a battalion of the KUMAON Regiment along with troops from other arms and services.
The multilateral Exercise ZAPAD 2025 is aimed at enhancing military cooperation, improving interoperability, and providing a platform for participating armies to exchange tactics, techniques and procedures in the domains of conventional warfare and counter-terrorism operations.
