Louvre Museum Gets Its First Woman President After Centuries Of Its Creation

Laurence des Cars makes history by becoming the first woman chief of the Louvre museum in Paris. The museum with historical significance was opened during the French revolution, two centuries ago. She will replace Jean-Luc Martinez, who had been the chief of the museum for eight years, on September 1.

IB, RAW Chiefs Get One-Year Extension; J&K Chief Secy To Take Charge As Commerce Secy

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by the PM Modi, has given a one-year extension to Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) chief Samanta Goel and Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Arvinda Kumar. BVR Subrahmanyam will take charge as the officer on special duty in the commerce ministry. AK Mehta was appointed in Subrahmanyam’s place as the new chief secretary J&K.

Kia Motors India is now Kia India, new corporate name ratified by Ministry of Corporate Affairs

Kia announced that it has changed its corporate name in the country from 'Kia Motors India' to 'Kia India' with the new name, sans the word 'Motors', being ratified by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Apart from the Kia Seltos and the Kia Sonet, the carmaker also sells the Kia Carnival.

J&K to construct 4,200km of road under PMGSY this fiscal

The Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) government plans to construct 4,200 kilometres of road connecting remote areas with Central assistance during 2021-22 under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Since the scheme was implemented in J&K, around 14,053km of road has been completed, for which 90% of the fund came from the Centre, while 10% was arranged by the UT administration.

In pandemic year, bank frauds down 25% by value: RBI annual report

Banks and other financial institutions reported frauds worth Rs 1.38 trillion in 2020-21, down 25 percent compared to the previous year, when the amount involved was Rs 1.85 trillion, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI’s) annual report. The RBI data takes into account frauds of Rs 1 lakh and above only.
