In a landmark development poised to transform the global standing of traditional medicine systems, an agreement was signed between the Ministry of Ayush and the World Health Organization (WHO) on May 24, 2025. The agreement marks the beginning of work on a dedicated Traditional Medicine module under the International Classification of Health Interventions (ICHI).
The ICHI, complementing WHO’s International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), documents what treatments and health interventions are administered. With the inclusion of a traditional medicine module, therapies from Ayurveda, Yoga, Siddha, and Unani systems—such as Panchakarma, Yoga therapy, Unani regimens, and Siddha procedures will now be recognized globally.
This will bring about multiple benefits:
● Transparent billing and fair pricing for Ayush services.
● Smoother integration of Ayush treatments in health insurance coverage.
● Enhanced hospital management, clinical documentation, and health research.
● Most importantly, greater global accessibility to Ayush interventions.
The Commission has decided to hold bye-election to fill vacancies in the following Assembly Constituencies of Gujarat, Kerala, Punjab and West Bengal. After the amendment in Section 14 of the Representation of the People Act-1950 by the Election Laws (Amendment) Act-2021, there is a provision of four qualifying dates to enroll as a voter in a year.

The Olympic gold medalist Djokovic defeated Hurkacz 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2) Djokovic, with this comeback victory, became the third such player in the Open era to achieve the feat after Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer. Connors logged 109 titles while Federer recorded 103 titles in their distinguished tennis careers.
The growth rate of the Indian economy in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2025 will clock 7.0 per cent, with an uptick from the third quarter (Q3 FY25) of 6.2 per cent, according to a report by Union Bank of India (UBI). As per the UBI report, the revised estimate for full-year FY25 growth is likely to be lowered to 6.3 per cent from 6.5 per cent previously.
Gross Value Added (GVA) growth for Q4 FY25 is likely to improve to 6.7 per cent from 6.2 per cent in Q3 FY25, the report added. The latter tracks well with GVA ex agri & government, a metric of private sector activity, and hence we see it showing a pickup to 6.8 per cent in Q4 from 5.9 per cent in Q3 FY25," the report added.

The IMF’s projection for the next financial year shows a wider gap between India and Japan’s GDP.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s April 2025 World Economic Outlook projects India’s gross domestic product (GDP) for the financial year 2025-26 (FY26) to reach $4.187 trillion taking over Japan’s $4.186 trillion GDP for the calendar year 2025. India’s GDP is expected to reach $4.601 trillion in FY27 against Japan’s calendar year GDP of $ 4.373 trillion in 2026.
The size of India’s economy was estimated higher at Rs 331 trillion for FY25 against the earlier estimate of Rs 324 trillion. India’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth is officially estimated to decelerate to 6.5 per cent during FY25 against 9.2 per cent last year. Japan’s economy stood at $4 trillion in 2024.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has officially notified the formation of a new six-member Payments Regulatory Board (PRB) to regulate and supervise payment systems in the country, replacing the existing Board for Regulation and Supervision of Payment and Settlement Systems (BPSS).
As per the RBI notification published in the Gazette of India on May 21, the new PRB will be headed by the RBI Governor and will, for the first time, include three nominees from the central government. The other members will be the Deputy Governor in charge of Payment and Settlement Systems, one RBI official nominated by the Central Board, and the three government nominees.
The PRB may also invite domain experts in payment and settlement systems, IT, and law to attend its meetings as permanent or ad hoc invitees. The Principal Legal Adviser of the RBI will be a permanent invitee. The Board is required to meet at least twice a year.
