The Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), based at Sri Vijaya Puram, is India’s first and only joint services operational command, integrating the Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard,
to safeguard national interests in the strategically vital Indian Ocean Region.
Lt Gen Rana was commissioned into the 10th Battalion of The Garhwal Rifles on December 19, 1987 and later had the honour of commanding the same battalion.
In a career spanning over 37 years, the General Officer has held diverse operational, instructional, and staff appointments across various terrains and theatres. His service includes tenures with the Indian Military Training Team and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.
Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann took over as Senior Air Staff Officer of Western Air Command, Indian Air Force on 01 June 2025. The Air Marshal is an alumni of the National Defence Academy and was commissioned as a fighter pilot in the IAF on 16 December 1989. He has flown over 3000 Hrs primarily on various types of fighter aircraft.
He is a pilot Attack Instructor and in his operational career, he has commanded a fighter squadron, been Chief Operations Officer of a forward base and Air Officer Commanding of a premium fighter base. He has also held various important appointments at Air Headquarters and Command Headquarters.
Prior to taking over as Senior Air Staff Officer, Western Air Command, Indian Air Force, he was Director General (Weapon Systems) at Air Headquarters. The Air Officer is a recipient of Presidential awards ‘Ati Vishist Seva Medal’ and ‘Vayu Sena Medal’.
The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, is going to conduct the second phase of capacity-building under the NAKSHA (NAtional geospatial Knowledge-based land Survey of urban HAbitations) programme from 2nd June 2025, across five Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in the country.
The first phase of capacity building programme to train the 160 master trainers from NAKSHA participating states/UTs has been completed in the month of May 2025.
The Reserve Bank took enforcement action against regulated entities (REs) and imposed 353 penalties aggregating to ₹54.78 crore in the fiscal ending March 31, 2025 for contraventions with provisions of statutes.
The contraventions/non-compliance were related to cyber security framework in banks; exposure norms and IRAC norms;
know your customer directions; frauds classification and reporting directions; reporting information on CRILC; and submission of credit information to credit information companies (CICs).
RBI data showed that as many as 264 penalties amounting to ₹15.63 crore were imposed on cooperative banks.
Moreover, the RBI imposed penalties on 37 non-banking financial companies/asset reconstruction companies totalling Rs 7.29 crore and 13 housing finance companies (Rs 83 lakh).
During the last fiscal, penalties aggregating to Rs 11.11 crore were imposed on eight public sector banks and Rs 14.8 crore on 15 private banks.
As many as six foreign banks too were penalised.
Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Masato Kanda has announced a five-year plan to mobilise up to $10 billion, including third-party capital, to enhance the India's urban infrastructure and services.
The plan was unveiled after Kanda’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The plan will focus on metro expansions, new Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridors, and investments in sustainable urban development.

Kotak Mahindra Bank announced that Paritosh Kashyap, group president and business head of the wholesale banking group, will be appointed as whole-time director, designated as executive director, from November 1.
Kashyap will succeed Shanti Ekambaram, the current deputy managing director, who is set to retire on October 31, 2025, upon completion of her term.
Kashyap's appointment is subject to approval by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Aditya Birla Capital Limited (ABCL) has invested Rs 249 crore in its wholly owned subsidiary, Aditya Birla Housing Finance Limited (ABHFL), through a rights issue. This infusion aims to support ABHFL’s growth plans and improve its leverage ratio, while keeping ABCL’s ownership at 100%.
This latest investment follows a previous infusion of Rs 300 crore into ABHFL, also via a rights issue, underscoring ABCL’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its housing finance arm and support its expansion plans. The additional capital will enable ABHFL to pursue new growth opportunities, expand its lending portfolio, and enhance its ability to serve a wider customer base.
In addition to the capital infusion into ABHFL, ABCL’s board has approved raising to Rs 1,65,000 crore through the issuance of debt securities, including non-convertible debentures, to further support its funding requirements and future growth initiatives.
The Indian Biogas Association said it has signed an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for development of bioenergy and bio-hydrogen sector.
This collaboration seeks to develop and expand the bio-energy sector on the basis of synergies between both organizations, a statement said.
