RBI imposed penalties on 353 banks, other regulated entities in FY25.

The Reserve Bank took enforcement action against regulated entities (REs) and imposed 353 penalties aggregating to ₹54.78 crore in the fiscal ending March 31, 2025 for contraventions with provisions of statutes.

The contraventions/non-compliance were related to cyber security framework in banks; exposure norms and IRAC norms;

know your customer directions; frauds classification and reporting directions; reporting information on CRILC; and submission of credit information to credit information companies (CICs).

RBI data showed that as many as 264 penalties amounting to ₹15.63 crore were imposed on cooperative banks.

RBI imposed penalties on 353 banks, other regulated entities in FY25.

Moreover, the RBI imposed penalties on 37 non-banking financial companies/asset reconstruction companies totalling Rs 7.29 crore and 13 housing finance companies (Rs 83 lakh).

During the last fiscal, penalties aggregating to Rs 11.11 crore were imposed on eight public sector banks and Rs 14.8 crore on 15 private banks.

As many as six foreign banks too were penalised.

Gross GST collections rise 16.4% to over Rs 2.01 trn in May: Govt data.

Gross GST collections remained above the Rs 2 trillion mark for the second month in a row, rising 16.4 per cent in May to over Rs 2.01 trillion.

Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection had touched a record high of Rs 2.37 trillion in April. In May, 2024, the mop up was Rs 172,739 crore.

Kotak Bank names Paritosh Kashyap as ED; Dy MD Ekambaram to retire.

Kotak Mahindra Bank announced that Paritosh Kashyap, group president and business head of the wholesale banking group, will be appointed as whole-time director, designated as executive director, from November 1.

Kashyap will succeed Shanti Ekambaram, the current deputy managing director, who is set to retire on October 31, 2025, upon completion of her term.
