The Philippines' "Taal Volcano" erupts.

Several minor, short-lived eruptions occurred at Taal Volcano in the Philippines over the weekend of October 25–26, 2025, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Eruptions: PHIVOLCS reported four minor eruptions, which included both steam-driven (phreatic) and steam-and-magma (phreatomagmatic) blasts.

Out of 150 physical files identified for review, 100 (67%) have been reviewed, while 355 (77%) of 460 e-files have been reviewed across various divisions. National Biodiversity Authority released Rs. 55 Lakh to Farmers of Red Sanders in Tamil Nadu

In a landmark initiative under the Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) framework for promoting the sustainable use of India’s biological resources, the National Biodiversity Authority (NBA) has released ₹55 lakh to 18 farmers/ cultivators of Red Sanders (Pterocarpus santalinus) in Tamil Nadu through the State Biodiversity Board.

It builds upon the NBA’s earlier release of ABS share of Rs. 48.00 crores to the Andhra Pradesh Forest Department, Karnataka Forest Department and Andhra Pradesh State Biodiversity Board for protection and conservation of Red sanders.

This initiative stems from the recommendations of an Expert Committee on Red Sanders constituted by the NBA in 2015.

Shri Shah said that while 14 such trawlers will be provided initially, the Central Government, the Ministry of Cooperation, and the Fisheries Department plan to provide more such trawlers to fishermen on a cooperative basis in coming time. He mentioned that these trawlers can stay in deep seas for up to 25 days and carry up to 20 tons of fish.
