Defence Ministry has implemented SPARSH, an integrated system for automation of sanction and disbursement of defence pension. This web-based system processes pension claims and credits pension directly into the bank accounts of defence pensioners without relying on any external intermediary.

NRAI's Pawan Singh becomes first Indian jury member for shooting at Tokyo Olympics

Pawan Singh, the Joint Secretary General of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), has been selected as the first ever Indian juror for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

A total of 26 jury members will officiate at the Olympics of which six will be from Japan and the rest from other countries.

Union Cabinet has approved Memorandum on Cooperation (MoC) between Competition Commission of India (CCI) & Japan Fair Trade Commission (JFTC) to promote and strengthen cooperation in the matter of Competition Law and Policy. It will enable CCI to emulate and learn from the experiences & lessons of its counterpart competition agency in Japan which would enhance efficiency

Cabinet approves MoU between ICoAl and ACCA relating to cost accountancy

Union Cabinet has approved an MoU between the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICoAl) & the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK. This will lead towards exchange of information, research, & publications, which will promote good governance practices in both jurisdictions. MoU will also facilitate the movement of professionals in both jurisdictions

Private sector Federal Bank said it has received approval from the RBI to re-appoint Shyam Srinivasan as its MD and CEO for three years.

Srinivasan took charge as MD and CEO of the lender on September 23, 2010. He had joined Federal Bank with the experience of over 20 years with leading multinational banks in India, Middle East and South East Asia.

Nihal Sarin wins Serbia Open, claims second consecutive title

Young Indian Grandmaster Nihal Sarin emerged champion in the Masters’ section of the Serbia Open Chess Championship in Belgrade.

This is the second consecutive tournament victory for sixteen-year old Sarin after he claimed the title in Silver Lake Open.

BKS Literary Award goes to N N Pillai - Journalist and playwright

Journalist and playwright Omchery N N Pillai has been selected for the Bahrain Keraleeya Samajam (BKS)’s Literary Award for 2021. The award constitutes a cash prize of `50,000 and a citation acknowledging the achievement. The award ceremony will be held later in Delhi.

Govt clears extension of interest equalisation scheme till September 30

The government of India approves the extension of the Interest Equalisation Scheme (IES) for pre and post-shipment rupee export credit for three months. The extension will take effect from 1st July 2021 to 30th September 2021. The scheme was effective from 1st April 2015 for five years.

Congress face in Himachal, six-time CM Virbhadra Singh dies at 87

Virbhadra Singh, the longest-serving chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, passed away in Shimla after prolonged illness.

The six-time chief minister and nine-time member of the Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh dominated the political landscape of the state for almost 50 years. Singh, popularly known as Raja Sahib, was 87.
