The Tamil Nadu government has officially declared a Greater Flamingo sanctuary at Dhanushkodi in Ramanathapuram district.
Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the sanctuary via video conferencing on the occasion of the World Environment Day event organised by the Departments of Environment, Climate Change and Forests in Chennai on Thursday (June 5, 2025).

In Women’s Single at the French Open Tennis 2025, American tennis star Coco Gauff defeated world number one Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4 in a thrilling final last night, clinching her maiden Roland Garros title and second Grand Slam crown.
With this victory, the 21-year-old became the first American woman to win the singles title in Paris since Serena Williams in 2015 and the youngest from the US to do so since Williams in 2002. Sabalenka, appearing in her third consecutive Grand Slam final but first on clay, started strong with aggressive net play and drop shots to lead 4-1 in the opening set.
Gauff’s triumph also marked the first time since the 2018 Australian Open that the top two women in the world rankings met in a Grand Slam final. Having previously lifted the 2023 US Open trophy, she now joins an elite club with Slam titles on both hard and clay courts. The victory marks world number two Gauff’s second Grand Slam title and her first major triumph on clay.
Gauff also became the youngest player to win both the French Open and US Open women’s singles titles since Serena Williams achieved the feat in 2002.

The Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) and the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on the development and deployment of multilingual artificial intelligence solutions across key public-facing railway platforms.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) released its first ever ‘Asset Monetization Strategy for the Road Sector’. The strategy presents a structured framework that provide a robust blueprint to mobilise capital through Toll-Operate-Transfer (ToT), Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs), and securitisation models.
These instruments have helped NHAI raise over ₹1.4 lakh crore across more than 6,100 km of National Highways under National Monetisation Pipeline.
The strategy is anchored on three core pillars that include Value Maximisation of Government Road Assets, Transparency of Processes and Dissemination of investor-relevant information,
and market development through deepening the investor base as well as promoting stakeholder engagement.
Commenting on the release of the strategy document, NHAI Chairman Shri Santosh Kumar Yadav said “The unique approach that NHAI has adopted towards asset monetisation not only ensures financial sustainability but also opens opportunities for the private sector,
leverage advanced technologies, enhance quality and longevity of our road assets. The successful implementation of this strategy will provide NHAI with a steady stream of financing, reducing our reliance on traditional funding sources”.
NHAI Asset Monetisation strategy aligns with the Government of India’s objective under Assets Monetisation Plan - 2025-30 and represents a pivotal shift towards sustainable, market-driven infrastructure financing.
PhonePe has announced the appointment of Zarin Daruwala, the former CEO of Standard Chartered Bank India and South Asia, to its board of directors. This strategic move comes as the company intensifies its preparations for a highly anticipated initial public offering (IPO).
Daruwala, a seasoned leader with more than thirty years of banking experience, concluded her tenure at Standard Chartered in April 2025 after a successful nine-year leadership period. Her career also includes a significant 26-year stint at ICICI Bank, where she held several key positions, notably as President of Wholesale Banking.
The timing of this appointment follows a series of critical steps in PhonePe’s IPO journey. In late 2022, PhonePe restructured its corporate framework and shifted its domicile from Singapore to India, a move that involved a substantial tax outlay of nearly Rs. 8,000 crore.
