EPFO has taken a significant step forward in its efforts to enhance member services by increasing the auto-settlement limit for advance claims from existing Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 5 lakhs. This move will help lakhs of EPFO members receive funds faster, especially in times of urgent need.
EPFO first introduced auto-settlement of advance claims during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide quick financial assistance to members. Since then the facility has been extended to cover advance claims for illness, education, marriage, and housing purposes. These claims are processed automatically by the system without any human involvement, ensuring quick turnaround.
In the financial year 2024–25, EPFO achieved a significant milestone by successfully processing a record 2.34 crore advance claims through auto-settlement, reflecting a sharp increase of 161% over the previous year. Notably, 59% of all advance claims in 2024–25 were settled through the auto mode.
With the elevated limit of ₹5 lakhs, additional advance claims will now qualify for auto-settlement, leading to their processing within three days of submission. This enhanced limit and faster access to funds will help members get timely financial support when they need it the most.

Tripura was declared fully literate under the ULLAS – Nav Bharat Saaksharta Karyakram (New India Literacy Programme), a centrally sponsored scheme implemented from 2022 to 2027.
Tripura has become the third state in the country—after Mizoram and Goa—to achieve full literacy, with the literacy rate soaring to 95.6%, a remarkable leap from just 20.24% in 1961.
The ULLAS scheme, aligned with NEP 2020, targets adults (aged 15 years and above) who can’t go to school. The official declaration was made at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan, Agartala, in the presence of distinguished dignitaries from the Centre and State.

The government has demoted Union Bank of India Executive Director (ED) Pankaj Dwivedi to General Manager (GM).
The central government hereby cancels the appointment of Pankaj Dwivedi as ED, Union Bank of India, made vide Department of Financial Services' notification dated March 27, 2024, the Department of Financial Services under the Ministry of Finance said.
The government reverted him to his previous post as General Manager in Punjab & Sind Bank.

The app is specially designed to provide comprehensive and real-time information to pilgrims and rail users travelling during the Rath Yatra, it added.
It said the ECoR Yatra App is a one-stop digital solution for passengers to plan their journey, access transport services, and get updates related to railway facilities.
The app will provide information on special train schedules, regular train time-table, live train and platform information, lodging and tourist facilities and ticket counters, booking assistance and others.
