Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan declared Kerala as the first state in the country to go fully digital in its banking service and said this recognition would boost the state economy.

Indian state-run companies will continue to be exempt from the minimum public shareholding (MPS) norm that requires listed companies to maintain a 25% public shareholding, a government notification said. The exemptions from the MPS norm will be valid for a "specified period" even if there is a change in ownership or control after the exemption is granted.
The Kilauea volcano in Hawaii has started erupting after a brief pause, less than a month after its neighbour Mauna Loa stopped spilling lava from an earlier eruption, according to the officials at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The summit of Kilauea is located far from populated areas, inside Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.

Senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and former West Bengal governor Keshari Nath Tripathi passed away at 88 at his home in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj. Tripathi served as a member of the UP Legislative Assembly six times. On July 14, 2014, Tripathi was appointed as the governor of West Bengal.
