The winners of the 71st National Film Awards for the year 2023 were announced by the respective juries.
This year, the awards saw 332 entries in the feature film category, 115 in non-feature films, 27 books, and 16 critics’ submissions.

Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers’ Welfare, and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan has approved the procurement of major pulses and oilseeds in Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat for the Kharif 2025–26 season.
Shri Chouhan has given approval for the 100% procurement of urad (black lentils) and tur (pigeon pea) from farmers, while also approving the purchase of moong (green gram), sesame, and groundnut in Uttar Pradesh, and soybean, moong, and groundnut in Gujarat.
The Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) and the Food Corporation of India (FCI) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Financial Year 2025–26 in New Delhi. The agreement sets out performance parameters and modernization goals aimed at ensuring greater efficiency and accountability in foodgrain management.
Through this MoU, the Government has reinforced its strategy of adopting system-based approaches and technology-driven solutions in subsidy operations. The Indian Navy is set to commission its second state-of-the-art Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC), Androth, at Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam on 06 Oct 2025. The commissioning ceremony will be presided over by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
The event marks the formal induction of the second of the sixteen ASW-SWC ships into the Indian Navy.

The National Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasting (NCMRWF), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with New Space India Limited (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Department of Space (DoS) today in Prithvi Bhavan, New Delhi.
This MoU aims to establish two Direct Broadcast Network (DBNet) stations — one in Delhi/NCR and the other in Chennai — as part of the Mission Mausam project of MoES.

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) moves towards the Atmanirbhar Bharat and has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE) for a long-term strategic collaboration in shipbuilding. The MoU was exchanged during the landmark event “Samudra se Samriddhi – Transforming India’s Maritime Sector”.
Under the MoU, CSL’s 310-meter new dry dock which was inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India on 17th Jan 2024 will be utilized to construct large vessels such as Suezmax tankers, container ships, and Capesize bulk carriers, with a capacity of up to six vessels annually.
To support this, a dedicated Block Fabrication Facility (BFF) is planned at Kochi in approximately 80 acres, with an annual capacity of 1,20,000 MT, involving an investment of about ₹3,700 crore. The details of the proposed facility and layout was presented at the event.

New data from the Mercedes-Benz Hurun India Wealth Report 2025 shows a clear link between states with higher income tax-to-GSDP ratios and the density of millionaire households. Maharashtra and Delhi, with tax collections of 19% and 18% of their GSDP respectively, also top the charts with the largest concentration of millionaires.
India’s wealth creation is booming, and its formalisation through taxes is accelerating. At the same time, the distribution of wealth across states highlights the rise of southern and western India as the country’s financial engines, while new hubs like Telangana and Haryana are emerging fast.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked all banks to beef up settlements of unclaimed funds — deposits, dividends, interest warrants, pensions, etc — over the next three months (October to December) to reduce such funds in the banking system.
Balances in savings or current accounts that have not been operated for 10 years, or term deposits not claimed within 10 years from the date of maturity, are classified as ‘unclaimed deposits’. These amounts are transferred by banks to the Depositor Education and Awareness Fund maintained by the RBI.
Depositors, however, are still entitled to claim the deposits at a later date from the banks where they were held, along with applicable interest.
In a communication to banks, the regulator said that in a recent meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Council, it was decided to hold district-level, week-long joint camps to settle unclaimed funds.
The first camp is scheduled for the first week of October in Gujarat, and more such camps will be held across the country until December.
The State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) has been given primary responsibility to lead this initiative in the respective states.
