Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah attended the convocation ceremony. Many dignitaries, including the Governor of Gujarat, Shri Acharya Devvrat & Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Bhupendra Patel, were present.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 11th Khel Mahakumbh at Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad, an annual sports competition organized here by the Gujarat government.

Khel Mahakumbh started in 2010 with 16 sports and 13 lakh participants, and it increased to 36 general sports and 26 para sports in 2019.

RBI lifts restrictions on HDFC Bank’s new digital business generation, allows lender’s Digital 2.0 programme

In a major relief for HDFC Bank, the Reserve Bank of India lifted all restrictions on new digital business generating operations.

RBI has removed all restriction from HDFC’s Digital 2.0 programme.

It should be noted that the restrictions were imposed by the Reserve Bank of India in December, 2020.

Provident fund interest rate for FY22 lowered to four-decade low of 8.1%

Interest rate on employees' provident fund deposit was cut to a four-decade low of 8.1 per cent for the 2021-22 fiscal from 8.5 per cent in the previous year.

This is the lowest interest rate since 1977-78 on deposits that employees make towards their retirement fund. Interest rate on employees provident fund that year stood at 8 per cent.

India's gold imports bounced back to 1,067 tonnes in 2021: Gem Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC)

India's gold imports bounced back to 1,067.72 tonnes in 2021 from 430.11 tonnes during 2020 when the demand was hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gold imports in 2021 were up by 27.66 % from 836.38 tonnes during 2019.

Along with China, India is by far the world's largest importer and consumer of gold.

Former Revenue Secretary AB Pandey appointed as NFRA Chairperson

The government has appointed former finance secretary Ajay Bhushan Pandey as chairman of the National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) for a period of three years. Pandey, a 1984-batch Maharashtra cadre IAS officer, retired as revenue secretary in February last year.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment.
